Armend Dysart
Job Title:
Gender: Male
Age: 1
Nationality: Australian
Department: Old Characters
Life-form: Robot
Player or NPC?: Player
Physical Appearance
At an unremarkable 5'10, Dysart maintains a constant human projection. After spending a good month as a hologram he'd crafted an opportunity that few others share- making your own appearance. By exploiting a back door in the hologrammatic projector he successfully recreated himself into what he thought truly suited him. Soft Caucasian features, light brown eyes and short hair purposefully coloured an unnatural dark gray. Although undeniably handsome in his new form the illusion is utter shattered whenever someone touches him and realises that he's nothing but a walking steel scarecrow underneath.
Schematically standing at 5'6, Dysart's body was clearly designed with a thin budget in mind. The height discrepancy is mostly due to the fact that his real head is roughly the size of a can of beetroot. Structurally Dysart is little more than a metal skeleton, while thin but powerful hydraulics keep him moving in some semblance of humanity he'll never approach the dexterity or speed he had in life.
Personality and Interests
Although practically re-inventing himself and rejecting his past, old habits die hard. Still an honest and benevolent soul he'd do what he can to help others and just generally goes along to get along. He's hardly an action hero and usually tried to get out of the way unless he has a personal stake in the outcome.
In life and now death Dysart had been and still is a genius hacker and code breaker. While the Krylon technology that once powered his abilities is gone, the memories and skill remain. Nothing with a CPU is safe from him as long as can interface with it. Even worse for the standard security, Dysart can 'dive' into a interface and manipulate it there... even if he's still permanently tied to his pathetic skeletal frame.
Speaking of death, the AI finds it to his liking to be honest. He doesn't need to sleep, eat or anything he had to do in life and anytime he does want to sense something he just amps up his pain sensors and takes them on board.
History
The standard JMC hologramatic backup is a mandatory fail-safe for all JMC crew members, even if not everyone gets the benefit due to rank. As such, any hologram is immediately the property of the JMC but more about that later.
Dysart began his 'life' as a mere tool for Andy Roos to help sabotage and escape the Pink Dwarf under the orders of his then-captain Jed Calvert.
From there on out he was his own man.
As is typical with most AI that had seen their real selves, Dysart accepted that he wasn't the real one and continued on. While most mourn their loss of identity the AI saw it as a revelation and mercy. After all- how many chances do you have to start again?
After his job was finished the hologram began to realise something while the Pink Dwarf crumbled around him. His memory was unobfuscated by the mind clouding Krylon technology. Past memories long gone now fully remembered set his mind and his gut lurching. Andy wasn't coming back to pick him up. Had he not done what he did as quickly as he did Dysart would've never had the chance to rejoin the Blue Dwarf.
Diving back into the Pink Dwarf network he returned the Holly AI back to sanity. Although still battered and damaged, the crew hailed him as a hero and allowed him on board despite the knowledge that he was a stowaway.
In the coming months, the AI slowly re-invented himself. He picked a new name, a new face, a new past and even a new promotion. Things went great for the following weeks.
But like all good things...
In a retinue census report, the JMC noticed a miscount amongst the crew along with an excellent head of IT... even though they were never issued one. A rouge hologram was an extremely dangerous prospect... but then again... they were also extremely expendable.
Being quickly snapped up and sped off to a German robotics station, Dysart's new purpose was soon known. A Bug tester for the first-ever humanoid service mechanoid.
Unable to escape due to his body having a tracking device (not that it's a piece of crap of course, not at all), and unable to extract his light bee or permanently dive into a machine without wiping his personality- Dysart is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
That particular location being the Blue Dwarf.
Notes about Dysart:
- He remembered nothing of what happened to Andy after the Pink Dwarf sabotage. Obviously.
- Capable of changing his holographic appearance to anything he pleases. His only limitations is that he can't appear thinner or shorter than his metal body is without clipping issues. The only thing he has never changed is his voice.
