Queen Brittany dies

Queen Brittany was killed last week in a Starbug explosion that also killed Lawrence “Shakespeare” Trisees, and Nurse Coffey.
In the last year, Queen Brittany has been the Queen to the Mollopod people, making the Mollopods part of the Commonwealth of Nations, and forming an alliance with Earth. Having a Human as a Queen meant Mollopods had to give up eating Human meat, which they see as a delicacy. The alliance seemed to be working well, until a Mollopod nightclub owner named “Blub” coerced the impressionable Justin Pancake into shooting the Queen with a bazukoid pistol (you can read the post where this happened here).
Blub had coerced Pancake into doing this by using his new girlfriend Chloe as a hostage. Pancake shot the Queen under the mistaken belief that if he did, Blub would let his girlfriend go. Unfortunately this never happened, and once Blub's men were killed by a toppled Starbug, the vindictive terrorist teleported away and killed Justin's girlfriend.
A medical Starbug was called for the injured Queen Brittany, and she was quickly helped aboard by medic Lawrence “Shakespeare” Trisees and Nurse Coffey. Unfortunately the Starbug had been rigged with an explosive device that detonated once the Starbug had taken off, killing all three characters (you can see the post where this happened here http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/JMC_Blue_Dwarf/message/12771).
The Mollopods blamed the Humans for the death of Queen Brittany, and Royal Ambassador Seymour Niples made things much worse in a reactionary speech to the Mollopod people.
"Mollopod people!" He shouted. "Your Queen is dead. She was killed by a Mollopod named Blub! He wants the alliance between Humans and Mollopods to fail."
Seymour grimaced. He was too emotional to make a public speech, and strong emotions like these normally lead people to say something stupid. Which is why Seymour continued, even though he should have stopped here.
"So if Mollopods want the alliance to end.... then consider it ended. Humans and Mollopods are no longer friends."

The alliance with Mollopod was terminated, and both races are now bitter over what happened, and blame each other for the explosion which killed their Queen.

The decision to write the death of the Queen wasn't actually planned. Henry's idea of having Justin shoot the Queen was a dramatic one which was too good to pass up, but it was always the idea that Queen Brittany would recover and the alliance with Mollopod would be restored. But it was SMAndy who asked if it would be okay to kill the Queen, as it would be an “Awesome step towards his awesome plot”.
I considered this for a while, and initially wasn't too keen on the idea. Brittany had been a character since 2002 when she was first mentioned when a missile containing hundreds of spider-like robots was launched at Earth by a race called the Plebians. The Blue Dwarf crew travelled back to Earth to destroy these robots (you can read the first ever post with Queen Brittany here).
So I was reluctant to kill her off so easily, but lately she hasn't been getting much use and her character has become a stereotype, so I thought it could be time to get rid of her. I would rather she die in a cool way than just get forgotten about.
