Drive Room

The Captain had gone to sit in his office about 50 minutes previously, leaving the entire Blue Dwarf in the incapable hands of Efof and Mk9.

The Drive-Room was in chaos. Paper littered the floor. Coffee cups had spilled their contents over desks, and crisp packets had been clumsily emptied over keyboards.

"Okay launch me another!" said Efof excitedly swinging around a foam baseball bat.
"Ready… ready… here it is!" Said Mk9 as he fired a foam baseball out of his rocketlauncher hand. The ball flew across the Drive-Room towards the alien, who swung with his bat and struck the ball, sending it sailing straight past Mk9's reach and hitting a computer screen at the back. The screen cracked and a red warning light flashed.

"Oh no what did I break this time!" Panicked Efof.
"Ah just the gravity controls for the medi-bay, I nobody can prove its us."
"Cool, bowl me another!" Said Efof.

Drive room

This is the nerve centre of the entire ship. The Drive Room is the closest thing the Blue Dwarf has to a Star Trek-style "Bridge", it is where the Command Officers make all the decisions that effect ship operations and the current mission.

The Drive Room is located at the very top of the Blue Dwarf, with large plexiglas windows looking out onto the hull of the ship, and also open space beyond. This positioning puts it at a good place to defend from within the ship, as it is only accessible from one narrow corridor, but it also makes it an easy target from outside the ship.

  • Various computer workstations control different aspects of the ship.
  • The navigation computer is used to manoeuvre the ship and plot long journeys using the Wormhole Drive.
  • The communications desk monitors or initiates ship to ship or ship to planet  communications.
  • The sensor computer can scan space for ships and planets.
  • The Environmental computer is used to ensure the climate inside the Blue Dwarf is tolerable.
  • The Captain's Office is accessible from the Drive Room. It is where crew are sent to be reprimanded or if they need to speak to the Captain privately. Captain Jed Calvert keeps the office in a constant state of clutter that makes generations of Health and Safety workers turn in their graves. He also has a mechanical rodeo bull in there which he rides instead of doing important paperwork.

Fun things to do in the Drive Room:

  • Encourage your colleagues to join you in a little synchronized chair dancing.
  • Every time the Captain or any Command Staff tells you to do something, ask them if they want fries with that.
  • At a quiet moment, practice yodelling.
  • Make a face like somebody on the workstation next to you farted.
  • Bring a hand puppet, preferably an animal. Ask it to clarify difficult points.
