Science labs
The Science Department are supposedly the boffins and eggheads of the ship, in the Science laboratory things are always being researched and invented. The scientists may also go on away missions as their expertise may be needed on some missions, and may also need to bring samples of an unknown substance back to the ship to analyse.
Scientists have been vitally important to the Blue Dwarf so far, new technologies have been invented which have proved useful. The scientists have experimented with new weapons, bizarre methods of travel and generally messed around with the laws of physics.
Each scientist has his or her own office surrounding the main Science lab where they can all share the equipment and resources.
