Psi Scanner

Rufus took out his psi-scanner and scanned the area. He showed Seymour the results but the Ambassador waved it off. "I can't understand that. Give me the gist."

Psi-scanner

This curious device was developed by the Jupiter Mining Corporation, having just bought out a rather large medical robotics company. It’s primary purpose is for detecting any hostile alien life-forms that could possibly be inhabiting areas where mining is to take place. However, so great are the abilities of the psi-scanner, it has become, more or less, an all-purpose scanner. It could, for instance, give a read out of the chemical make-up of a small planetoid, or even for that matter do a full neuro-psychological scan of a person’s psyche. It’s only major pitfall is that, since it is constructed with many semi-organic components, voltage levels need to be constantly checked and regulated for damaging power surges which are an unfortunate side-effect of the organic-to-electronic circuitry. These surges are relatively frequent, resulting in an extremely unstable operating system prone to regular crashing. This is also exacerbated by slow processing speeds – I mean you try cramming all that stuff into a small hand-held device, and still have enough room for a half-decent processor.

"Jesus man...I always get such a headache in those things" Kara mumbled, clutching her 'H' as her lightbee reactivated and her hard light form materialised.

"YOU?!" Jay asked, following from the AR suite "YOUR A SMEGGING HOLOGRAM!"

"Hey!" Kara said offended "Computer simulations hurt too y'know!"
"sorry...sorry..." Jay said "wait wasn't it you who used to love trying to make George McIntyre catch things for a laugh before they had hard light on the Red Dwarf!"

"Thats beside the point!" Kara "That was before I died!"

"Tsk..double standards..."
